Reinvent Climbing Terrain

The best way to change up the angles of your climbing wall, whether a 20,000 square foot commercial gym, or basement home wall, is to add features with bolt-on modular options, called “volume” holds.  Volumes can add entirely new three-dimensional climbing surfaces to otherwise simple wall designs – they can make climbing movement on slabs and vertical walls more interesting and varied, and steep climbing more dynamic and exciting.  And they are cost-effective and relatively simple to attach.  To meet the demand for climbing walls these options, we have developed both plywood and fiberglass volumes.

Geodesic Shapes

Our plywood volumes, or “Geodesic Shapes,” are computer cut with laser precision to create smooth seams at the joints, and they have tapered edges so the back of the volume meets a flat wall surface easily.  We have developed seven different Geo shapes designed to give climbers the same experience of climbing on a framed system without the expense or hassle of building a framed wall.

After cutting, joining the angles, and sanding, our plywood volumes are typically covered with an acrylic texture coating.  We can also custom finish volumes in specific paint texture color, or our gym rock texture, to match your existing walls.  These shapes are fixed to the wall with screws in pre-drilled and countersunk holes, for easy attachment.  See the complete selection of Geo shapes further down the page or click here to purchase online.

 Fiberglass Volumes

In addition, we have developed the biggest fiberglass volumes available in the US!  Read below to check out the newly released volumes - “Le Boob” and “The Growth.”  Contact us if you have any questions about installing volumes or which types would work best.  If you’re interested in multiple volumes for a gym or a quote on ship costs, just let us know!

Le Boob

"Le Boob" is our first fiberglass volume, with a bulbous round shape that will allow you to significantly alter the way your climbing walls look and climb.  The shape itself is over 3.5 feet in diameter and nearly as tall, with over a dozen t-nut placements and an outer flange with 5 bolt-holes for attachment.  It will allow you to create a fun obstacle on vertical or slightly overhanging terrain, adding variety to the type of climbing and number of moves on your routes.  Put this massive volume on an overhang, and you'll easily be able to create fun dynamic moves that will really excite the climbers in the gym!

Developed in conjunction with one of our biggest recent commercial climbing wall projects, Movement Climbing and Fitness, “Le Boob” concept was designed by Mike Moelter, and shaped by Mike Auldridge.

The Growth - Just Released!!!

"The Growth" is unlike any object you have ever seen before!  The newest in our line of fiberglass volumes, this shape has numerous intricate artistic features that will make it amazing to climb on.  The Growth is 41” long x48” wide x13” high with a relatively low profile away from the wall, The Growth also has numerous t-nut placement options for modular handholds.  The Growth has a unique design, both organic and futuristic.

We developed The Growth in partnership with So iLL Holds and artist/shaper/climber Jason Kehl aka Cryptochild.  Urban Climber Magazine’s November 2009 Issue has a great profile of Jason carving this monster feature.  Check out the close-up view and see the detailed imprints of the Rockwerx, So iLL, and Cryptochild logos.  Contact us for pricing.

Geodesic Shapes

(length x width x height)

Pyramid (small):  3' x 3' x   8"           $275.00

To purchase online visit our online store

The simplest, most inexpensive of our shapes, the Pyramid has three symmetrical sides, and is perhaps the most versatile.  It offers enough terrain to make a flat wall more exciting, but is also small enough to fit into tight spaces, and the most affordable option.  This feature is great for making vertical or traversing climbing more interesting, and also nice to add to more extensive walls in roofs or “dihedral” formations.  The Pyramid has 9 distinct t-nut placements.

The Arrow (medium):  3’ X 3.25’ X 10”      $325.00

To purchase online visit our online store

The Arrow is one of our newest geo shapes, with 2 sets of identically opposing triangles, and 12 t-nut placements spread out over each of the four sides.  Like the Trapezoid, this shape protrudes almost one foot from the existing wall.  The unique shape creates a small arête where the largest triangles meet, and offers numerous options, depending on the rotation – even small holds, when used on the top surface, will become much easier to grab than on the standard vertical wall.

The Catalyst (medium):  3’ X 2.5’ X 8”      $350.00

To purchase online visit our online store

With 5 distinct sides, The Catalyst geo shape offers a high degree of versatility for handhold placements, while still having a relatively modest profile overall.  Each angle is slightly different, with a variety of placement possibilities, creating numerous options for interesting movement over handholds, simply one  geo shape alone.  The Catalyst has 17 t-nut options in total, and if used on vertical or slab terrain, provides just enough texture at the mid point for the geo to be grabbed as a large arete, or sloping handhold.

The Trapezoid (medium):  3' x 3' x 10"       $325.00

To purchase online visit our online store

The next size up in our geo shapes has four sides, with more options for bolt-on holds - a total of 15 t-nut placements.  The Trapezoid is slightly larger than the Pyramid and protrudes almost one foot from the existing wall, yet allows for easy traversing movement around the shape.

The Slipstream (large):  6.5’ X 1.25’ X 9”       $375.00

To purchase online visit our online store

An aerodynamic looking rectangular shape, the Slipstream is a unique variation of the geo concept.  Long and narrow, this shape can be used to create interesting climbing variations, on one side of a wall, for example, without taking up too much space.  The Slipstream has 16 distinct t-nut options, and is large enough to climb on, on its own, making for interesting and fun routesetting options.

The Triangle (large):  4' x 3.5' x 1'          $375.00

To purchase online visit our online store

Like the Pyramid, the Triangle has three basic sides.  The smallest side can be oriented to create a short “overhang,” or if, reversed a “mantle,” with the two longer sides extending to form a short “arête.”  The various positions possible on this geo shape create a diversity of interesting route setting options, with 19 distinct t-nut placements available.

The Diamond (x-large):  6' x 4' x 12"        $425.00

To purchase online visit our online store

Like the Trapezoid, our largest geo shape, has four sides.  It is big enough for kids to climb solely on the feature, and because of its size, offers numerous options for changing the type of movement over the wall.  There are 30 distinct t-nut placements on this feature, and the profile extends one foot beyond the wall.
