December 2008
12/10/2008In recent months, Rockwerx has been leading the way in design and construction of new commercial climbing facilities across North America. This fall alone, four major new facilities have been in the works. Climber’s Rock is Ontario, Canada’s best and biggest new climbing gym. Located just outside of Toronto, this facility has already been host to the largest bouldering competition ever held in the Canadian Tour De Bloc series, and is well underway planning an addition! In the Eastern USA, we are currently completing Rock Spot Climbing, just outside of downtown Boston; Urban Rocks, the first large scale full-service climbing gym in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and this fall, Rise Up Climbing in Lynchburg, Virginia opened it’s doors as the premier climbing operation in Central Virginia.
And that’s just to recap recent news that covers over 30,000 square feet of climbing terrain… With the start of winter, we’ve been hard at work finalizing details for at least as much for early 2009, at various other facilities across the country. We recently began construction of Bridges Rock Gym in the bay area of Northern California, an incredible new bouldering-centric facility complete with elaborate top-out bouldering, steep roof climbing, and slacklines. Central Rock Gym in Worcester, Massachusetts will have over 13,000 square feet of climbing, top-out bouldering, and lead climbing up to 45 feet, as well as state-of-the-art operational designs incorporated. And Movement Climbing and Fitness will begin wall construction in January, 2009, and will be one of most exciting commercial climbing gyms we’ve ever built, with an outstanding design and other new features.
Exciting Projects – At Home and Abroad
Along with these major climbing gym facilities, we have been expanding our reach in various directions outside the commercial sphere. We have been working on multiple military, retail, educational, and private contracts, and developing existing products with new ideas. We have new “Mosaic Walls” that we can manufacture to a customer’s specific desired imagery, as part of our Modular Panel options, and our Natural Rock product line is increasingly popular, with numerous recent walls completed - check out the Natural Rock Photo Gallery for new images.
