Climbing Holds

Rockwerx Climbing Holds

Not only do we manufacture some of the biggest and best climbing walls ever built, we also produce climbing holds to outfit your wall!  Rockwerx holds offer clear advantages from the competition.  Many climbing hold manufactures make their holds from a less expensive polyester resin, resulting in brittle holds which may crack, chip or break.  We offer a wide range of shapes and sizes and our modular holds are pure urethane, no fillers.  This makes for extremely strong and durable climbing holds.

With over 300 holds in our always expanding line, we take pride in trying to come up with more and better creations all the time.  We add to our lines all the time and have a range of styles including Aesthetics, Simplistics, Specialties, Technicrats, and the Frosters.

For climbing gyms looking to renovate their walls for better routesetting and climbing at low cost, we also have the most expansive and well-refined production line of plywood Geodesic Shapes or “volumes.”  These are perfect to spice up your climbing wall terrain.  We also have an incredible new enormous fiberglass feature affectionately called “Le Boob.”  Developed in conjunction with one of our biggest recent commercial climbing wall projects, Movement Climbing and Fitness, this shape concept was designed by Mike Moelter, and shaped by Mike Auldridge.

Designing New Holds:

Kevin Branford

Our most recent climbing hold sets, including a range of sandstone-inspired lines as well as pockets, slopers, and jugs, have been shaped by prolific climber and routesetter Kevin Branford.  With over 15 years experience competing, routesetting, and working in the climbing industry, Kevin Branford has gripped a lot of handholds in his career.  He began climbing in the early 90’s and was one of the most successful youth competition climbers ever to compete for the US, winning Junior Nationals for 5 consecutive years.

Kevin began routesetting over a decade ago and has since become one of the most experienced nationally certified routesetters in the US.  He has climbed 5.14, built climbing walls and set routes across the country, and currently travels the world working on cruise ship climbing walls.

With a unique style, Kevin brings a fresh take to climbing hold design, helping us grow Rockwerx’s own flavor of shapes.  Check out some of our favorite of Kevin’s creations, along with existing Rockwerx shapes from hold designers Steve Goodair, Mike Auldridge and others at www.rwgear.com.

Steve Goodair

Steve has worked at the forefront of climbing hold design and manufacture for the past 11 years and he has carved holds for many of the key players in the European market.

Having set 100's of indoor routes on all types of climbing wall using many different types of bolt on hold, Steve was uninspired by the range and quality of the holds available on the market. He therefore decided to create his own range of holds which were more realistic to an 'outdoor' experience of climbing, he did this by improving on the design and texture of the holds which he had both climbed on and used to set routes.

His main ambition therefore is to make climbing indoors a more realistic experience with the best shapes you can get your hands on. These shapes are ones that you can translate to outdoor climbing without trashing your hands, and are ones that can be used for all types of indoor route setting.

With his keen eye for design and ergonomics Steve carves some of the best holds on the market - holds that make you think about how to use them, holds that really test your technique.

Rockwerx is a direct manufacturer of these amazing holds.
